Hi There.

Hi There.

Hey, friends. Long time no see! I’ve missed you all. All is well here…just been a little covered up with the stuff of life. Good stuff, but stuff nonetheless.

I’ve been away for a while. Β I ducked away from this here blog for a minute. Things were so busy with trying to complete the new CD, maintain a busy travel season and everything that comes with that, plan and lead a church worship ministry, and oh yeah: lead/love/cherish my wife and kids as my first priorities. It was a BUSY stretch.

I never dreamed that working on my project in Nashville while living in Jackson would be so draining. It was filled with lots of positives. But the tough side of it was how the traveling and inconvenience of it would drain me emotionally and physically. Tough stuff for this old guy. I had to let go of everything that wasn’t a total necessity and give my best to the most important things.

I’m happy to say that the project is almost completely finished. 3 of 13 songs are mixed. I have one more lead vocal to record. Everything will be totally finished in the next two weeks.

Can I get a what?what? from you people? I’m SO HAPPY to be finished. So blessed and so happy.

In other news, we are in full summer swing here in the Cottrell household. All manner of camps, lessons and gatherings are keeping us (and by ‘us’ I mean my wife) in full-force taxi mode. Kids are having a great summer so far. I don’t think they’ve said ‘I’m bored’ even once. I’d like to see them try to say it. Just try, I say.

They’re in the front yard catching frogs while I write to you right now. They had 5 inside a big box last time I checked. They’re outdoorsy. Like their dad. (smirk smirk)

We are gearing up for the last Deeper Still event ever this weekend. The last one ever. Sad about that. This week’s event is in Louisville, KY. Are you coming? More on Deeper Still in a couple of days.

I gotta sign off. This old man is falling asleep Β while he types. I wish I didn’t mean that literally, but I do. Seriously…hunched over my laptop, practically drooling. Papaw needs to get in the b-e-d.

I leave you with a game. Can you find what’s wrong with this picture? This is my family and me at my nephew’s wedding this past weekend:

Study it carefully. Know what’s wrong?

It’s the growing. All the growing. That’s what’s wrong with this picture. I think there must be steroids in the water over here in Jackson. Can they please stop it with all the growing?? πŸ™‚

Thanks for stopping by. I’ve missed being here. Glad to be back.

When you say you’re tired and then write, “…at my nephew’s wedding this past wedding”, I really believe you AND I can totally relate. Praying God’s perfect rest for you. You have a beautiful family!

Travis, I am looking so forward to this weekend at Deeper Still! I am bringing my mother, her first conference experience and I know the Lord has great things in store! My dad passed away Easter weekend and so I am so thankful to have this time with her, just to worship and hear from Jesus. Praying for you all! Blessings to you and your beautiful family….

    AWE, Papaw, get some rest.
Can’t wait for the new CD!

And I feel your pain, my 12 year old has about 1/2 inch till he’s taller than me and my baby girl will be 5 tomorrow.
You blink and they’re all grown up. *Sigh*

  11. Nesha on June 7, 2011 at 7:00 am

Yes, you can get a ‘What? What?’ Can’t wait for the new CD!
When you first ask the question before the picture? My thought was ‘ Jack is taller than you!’ My how they all have grown. I totally agree, which we could freeze them at certain ages for a while, I would freeze mine.

My friend Kathy and I are headed to Lousiville from Morgantown, WV on Friday morning. I can already feel the prayers. Can’t wait for DS. Didn’t know it was the last. We’ll be praying on our way for all of you…the worship team, the speakers, and the participants.
    Blessings!

Yay for blogging. . . it’s great to hear from you! I’m so excited for your new CD, and excited for Deeper Still, too! I’m planning to come from Illinois but would appreciate prayers as I have a few things to get worked out before I can leave with peace for the weekend. But I’m so ready for an extended time devoted solely to worship and the Word! I’m praying for you and all the team as well, and looking forward to worshiping with you!

What! What! Can’t wait for your new cd. And the family picture…..just awesome. I think we have steroids in our water too. Kiddos growing up way too fast.

  17. Nancy Jensen on June 7, 2011 at 8:08 am

Nice to hear from you Travis!

Congratulations on the album. Can you still call it that or am I totally dating myself by using that word?? LOL!

I tell my kids all the time to STOP growing. My 13 year old daughter is looking me straight in the eye and last night I bought my 9 year old son new shoes (again!) and had to get a size 7 in the mens department. If he grows into those big feet he will be the tallest Jensen by far. Funny how we mark the passage of time by our children’s milestones almost more than our own!

Enjoy the sweet summer fun times with them. It ends so quickly!

    God bless your week!

Your family is beautiful! Congrats on the wonderful busyness you’ve been under. πŸ™‚

  22. Charlotte on June 7, 2011 at 10:21 am

I noticed what was wrong with the picture right away! Same here!!! Jonathan is taller than me (but not caught up to Craig yet), Adri same height as me (we can share shoes already). Wow, huh? It’s going by fast!

  23. Randy Beridon on June 7, 2011 at 10:57 am

Travis….thank you for being such a tremendous role model to all of us worship leaders. God certainly has His hand on you and uses you beyond your wildest imagination (which your imagination is definitely wild) πŸ™‚ Thank you for being a faithful servant of the Lord and making yourself available to Him. God uses you constantly in my own life to encourage my heart and realign my focus on Him. Can’t wait for your new project to be released. Hurry up now!!!!! My iPod is crying for more of your music.

  24. Manon (Holland) on June 7, 2011 at 11:39 am

O where did time go?? It seems like yesterday, the pictures of 2006 and the concert with Beth Moore and Forever Worship. How they have grown!! Happily they will always stay our ‘babies’, even though they become 60 :-), and hopefully we will still enjoy life as it is!
Wonderful to read you are recording a new CD!! Can we buy this one in Holland as well? Hope so!
Blessings from Holland, enjoy your weekend! Hope to be in touch some day again.
    Manon, Holland (former Forever Worship-member)

Your music has always touched me spiritually. We sang many of your songs in our church praise and worship band and I can’t wait until your new CD is released so I can get some of your newest works.

  31. Susan Clark on July 2, 2011 at 11:37 am

I just listened to your song ” Search Me Know Me”and was moved to tears and asked the Lord to forgive me…. thank you for your music. It reaches into crannies and cracks you don’t even know exist…God is good isn’t He? Your family is beautiful. I have seen so much pain and hurt in families over the years … it is so good to know there are those men and women of God who are dedicated to each other thru Christ….your family is beautiful…Again…thank Jesus for your ministry…
