Time For A Calendar Meeting

Time For A Calendar Meeting

Angela and I have calendar meetings every so often, where we take the family calendar, the school calendar, the church calendar and the work calendar and put them all together. We make sure that we both know everything that’s coming up in all of our worlds. And we make sure that each of us knows the other’s calendar expectations. I hugely recommend weekly calendar meetings for busy families. It’s mostly just to make sure that all of the calendars are playing nicely with one another.

So, I think it’s time for a blog calendar meeting. There are a few things coming up in the next month that I have been wanting to write about for a while. And I hope I haven’t waited until too late for some of you to make plans to be at some of these events.

Next weekend we have two concerts:

Saturday, April 9 – Charlotte, NC – Northside Baptist Church (visit the church website for tickets)

Sunday, April 10 – Athens, AL – Lindsay Lane Baptist Church

NC and AL are two of our favorites. I hope you guys can make it out to join us for worship. This is our first tour weekend after a long tour sabbatical. I can pretty much guarantee we’re going to be on stun all weekend. Can’t wait to sing with GREAT choirs at both places. I’m such a choir nerd. Nothing makes me happier. Let me know if you’re coming. I really hope to see lots of *old* friends at both these places. And I hope to take in large quantities of NC goodness, like Cheerwine, Bojangles, and the like.

The next weekend, April 15-16, we have Living Proof Live Little Rock. Can’t WAIT for this event. You know Beth is an Arkansas girl, right? Every time we go back, it seems like a special homecoming for our favorite bible study teacher.  🙂  I’m pumped. And as an added bonus, I’m going to have lots of church friends attending. Are you coming? Come on! Don’t miss it! I have a couple of tickets to give away to LPL Little Rock…check back next week for that. And, hey…if Huckabee happens to be around, he’s more than welcome to come play bass with us…  🙂

Then, on May 7, we will be here:

If you would like to host or attend this great event, go here. This event is going to be awesome. Max is no slacker, you know.

That’s all I have for now. I hope you guys have a blessed weekend. I’m so thankful to be in Fresno this weekend for Living Proof. Even though my body is sort of exhausted from a busy couple of weeks, my spirit is soaring and ready to hear from God. Happy Friday to you!

    Hey Travis,
Thank you for posting the “calendar” tips for families – great idea. And let me just say I’m still on a “cloud” after the “sangover” last weekend!! I had an incredible blessed time with you and all your peeps at the recording! I can’t wait until the cd is released and hear the final project after Dan and Bobby work their magic! ;D
May God continue to provide strength, provision and protection for the Cottrell Calendar and all it involves!

So excited to see what God is going to do through y’all in LR! I can’t make it Friday night because the husband has an event he wants me to attend, but I’m certainly going to try my best to make it on Saturday. I go to a lot of events at the good ole’ Verizon Arena, but it never rocks like it does when y’all are in the house! Can’t wait to see you.

I’ve enjoyed reading your blog, Travis. I so cringed reading the story about your laptop “adventure”. Isn’t God kind? I was really surprised you seemed so non-plussed when you came to last weekend’s recording session with the choir. Wow! Your faith and trust in God was SO evident, not only because you didn’t show any reaction to what had just happened to you, but you also had so much patience and great attitude through the whole weekend. What a lot of energy it takes to lead a large choir (I know from experience!) You led us so well! Thanks for setting such a great example of God’s all-sufficient grace for all of us.

Oh yeah, my late husband and I did these calendar meetings too for years…so helpful when raising a bunch of kids (for us it was 7!) and trying to keep track of everything! Thanks for sharing your great insights with others. :o)

    Hi Travis,
I was in Fresno for the LPL event and it was awesome! It was the first time I had ever gotten to see you or Beth live and what a blessing it was! I wanted to ask if you could give me the name of the song you sang toward the beginning of Friday evening? It began with a drum sound – someone told me it was an old hymn, but I had never heard it and I LOVED it. I want to find it and put it on my IPod. All the music was fabulous, but that song touched me! I couldn’t think of any other way to ask and stumbled across this page. I haven’t checked it out before so thank you! I loved your computer story! It was hilarious, but uplifting….God is so good! Thanks, Travis, and all of your team, for the wonderful time in Fresno!! Vicki P.

I am really interested in one particular song that your team sang on Friday night in Fresno that I have not heard before but loved. Of course, I can’t remember the words but I know that you will if I tell you one phrase. I would love to know the name of it, the words to it and how I can get my hands on it. It really touched me. It is “I will rise and run(?) to Jesus.”
    Thank you so much!

Another song title request … What was the name of the theme song from this weekend’s LP event in Fresno? All I remember was fountains are in you … the entire event was truly inspiring! Thanks so much to you and the entire LP crew for an amazing weekend,,

Thank you Travis & LP praise team for uplifting with your music here in Fresno, CA. Well, like a few of my sisters have already mentioned, I too would love to know the title of the song that went with the theme for this conference that Beth did on Between the Rain.
Thank you again and God Bless you & yours,

I’ll be at LPL in Little Rock. Can’t wait!

You know, I just realized that the last time I was in Verizon Arena, it was to see Aerosmith. It was a good concert, but this will be way better, plus–bonus–I won’t be deaf for three days afterwards!

  11. Robyn McDowell on April 12, 2011 at 9:01 pm

Travis-I can’t wait to worship with you guys Friday in Little Rock. I pray for a fresh word from God as we sing praises and study His Word. I’m honored to be a backer of your kickstart project, and can’t wait to hear the new songs! Keep the music coming – it’s always a blessing.

I was blessed to be at LP at Little Rock this past weekend. I was wondering what the song was that Travis sang solo with the signer for the deaf on stage. Could you please tell me the song and if Travis has recorded it? Thank you for your ministry.
